inkpop announces Supernatural Writing Contest

Kelley Armstrong, Aprilynne Pike, and other HarperTeen authors team up for ‘strange and spooky’ contest and summer tour

Do you have a story about vampires, zombies, witches, or another supernatural subject?

If so, you should totally enter’s Supernatural Writing Contest to share your work with a community of teen-lit fans, and for a chance to win awesome prizes.

Don’t have a supernatural story to submit? That’s cool. This contest rewards those who read contest submissions and vote on their favorites, too. And, get this: The Supernatural Writing Contest has enlisted the guidance of a panel of HarperTeen authors Kelley Armstrong, Kimberly Derting, Kim Harrison, Aprilynne Pike, and Ellen Schreiber.

And did we mention the prizes? The Writing Grand Prize winner will receive a Supernatural Summer Trip package that includes travel, hotel, and backstage access for two to the event closest to the winner’s location. Event cities include: Kansas City, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, and San Diego. While gears up for a contest-heavy future, the Supernatural Writing Contest is a beta project. Because the contest is in “test mode” to work out any potential technical and functionality kinks, the Supernatural Contest is operating on a first-come, first-serve basis.

“The inkpop team is hard at work on testing all of the capabilities of this contest, but in order to do so, we need to limit the number of entries,” says an inkpop representative. “We are deeply sorry for any inconveniences this may cause, but we truly appreciate your participation. Your feedback and insight is allowing us to make the contest better for all inkpop users.”

Time duration: Launched March 18, the Supernatural Writing Contest community judging period is March 23-April 22, 2010.

Who can enter: This contest is open to U.S. residents ages 13 to 21. Future inkpop contests will be open to all inkpop members, regardless of where they live. In order to participate, you must register for an inkpop account.
