Carolyn Mackler picks 3rd ‘Ask Anything’ winner

inkpop member KDBDanielle  gets advice from the award-winning author about golden story openers

inkpop, the teen community site for aspiring writers, is in the third week of the “Ask Carolyn Mackler Anything in the World” series, which invites inkpop site members to, well, ask the author anything they want (within good reason, of course).

Each week of April 2010, Mackler pores over the questions posted in this inkpop Forums thread, selects her favorite, and answers the question. Four winners (one per week) win an autographed copy of Mackler’s latest novel, Tangled.

inkpopper KDBDanielle won the third week of the series with this question:

How do you figure out how to begin your novel so that it’ll hook the reader from the first sentence?

Read Carolyn Mackler’s answer to whentherainfall’s question here on inkpop Forums.

The “Ask Carolyn Mackler Anything in the World” series runs through the end of April. Visit inkpop.com to read and post questions for the author. Mackler will select and answer the third winning question on Friday, April 30.
