WWC: Think Greek Reminder!

“Think Greek”

★ Launch Date: Sunday, May 23rd, 2010
★ Due Date: Saturday, May 29th, 2010 by 11.59PM (Pacific Time)

Challenge Details

Participants will be asked to take a classic Greek Myth or Tale or Epic Poem or Tragic Play and re-invent it in any way they wish! Do you think that Aphrodite should have been a man? Go for it! What if Homer was actually right about there being an Atlantis? Write about it! Upset about how things turned out for poor Oedipus? Change it!

Participants can alter any aspects of their chosen myth; however their re-invention should still be identifiable with the original.


★ Formatting Options: Poem or Short Story
★ 500 Word MAX/100 Word MIN (Poem only)
★ 2500 Word MAX/900 Word MIN (Short Story Only)
★ Specify what your entry is based on in the long pitch

Extra Challenge Requirements

★ Include at least one Mythological Greek Creature
★ Use the phrase “It’s all Greek to me”
★ Have a funny scene involving a toga

Fabulous Prizes!!!

1. The Challenge Champion shall receive:

★ ONE free HarperCollins book of your choice
★ ONE free Pick for any of their works or the work of another writer
★ A feature on the Weekly Writer’s Challenge Profile

2. Honorable Mentions (there are always TWO) shall receive:

★ A short feature on the corresponding challenge thread

3. The first (1st) FIVE (5) participants to submit their entries will receive:
