‘Vampire Academy’ at the movies With popular vampire-centered book series’ easily making the transition from book to big screen (a la the Twilight franchise) and TV (True Blood and The Vampire Diaries), it’s no surprise that Hollywood would be on the lookout for more bloodsucking books to adapt commercially; and next on their radar is Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy. The six-book series, which will release its conclusion in December 2010 in the form of Last Sacrifice, is rumored as currently being shopped around to various studios in an effort to turn it into the next Twilight. I am tween; read my blog In years past, the subject of many blog posts were about tweens – raising them, shopping for them, and the like. Now the tables have turned and it is tweens themselves who are creating and writing their own blogs. According to parents, “blogging is the latest craze”; and the presence of child bloggers – from a nine-year-old who reviews everything from headphones to cereal, and an eleven-year-old who shares her political views – is being felt by the world – and helping to improve the writing of those behind such entities. ‘Dancing with’…the author? As Dancing with the Stars, a reality show which partners up celebrities with professional dancers, enters its eleventh season, Ally Carter, author of I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have to Kill You brings up an interesting point on her blog…the lack of authors being included in the show. As Carter puts it…“Authors are stars too.” Therefore, they deserve a chance to put on their dancing shoes, as well! Entertainment Weekly.

Over to you…do you think that The Vampire Academy could create as much buzz at the box office as Twilight? What vampire series would you love to see adapted for TV or movies? What are your thoughts about blogging? Do you have a blog of your own? What do you think of Ally Carter’s observations? What authors would you love to see on Dancing with the Stars (I’m thinking Meg Cabot would be a fun choice!)?
