Official ‘Beastly’ movie trailer hits the web Though talk of Beastly has died down since its release date was pushed back a full eight months, the modern-day Beauty and the Beast re-telling starring Alex Pettyfer, Vanessa Hudgens, Mary-Kate Olsen, and Neil Patrick Harris has once again resurfaced with a bang courtesy of the release of the Official Movie Trailer. The film, now set to hit theaters on March 18, 2011, is an adaptation of the Alex Flinn novel of the same title, which tells the tale of a rich, popular, arrogant high school student named Kyle whom is transformed into an ugly beast to teach him a lesson. Kyle has exactly one year to find someone to love him, or else he will be unable to return to his original form. MTV.

Holiday YA reading lists…with a little help from our celebrity friends! School is out, the weather is frightful…there’s no doubt about it; the holidays are the perfect time to curl up with a good book and get lost in another world. So what’s on the reading list? Hollywood Crush has compiled a list of some of the best novels to indulge in for a little light reading – with input from a few celebrity friends. There’s Catherine Fisher’s soon-to-be movie starring Taylor Lautner Incarceron, Lisa McMann’s Wake – which may star Miley Cyrus in the MC role of the adaptation; and a few more suggestions to beat the blustery weather. ‘Hunger Games’ casting pushed back to 2011 Though many were holding their breath, hoping to hear the name of the individual chosen to play Katniss Everdeen in the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games before the holidays, producer Nina Jacobsen has issued a release stating that casting has been pushed back until 2011. “We have so many great young actors right now whose representatives are interested, or who are interested themselves,” she said. “It really comes down to finding that person who can capture the physicality, the vulnerability and the toughness. She’s a paradoxical character and you need somebody who has the range to capture all of those dimensions.” MTV.

Over to you…have you read Alex Flinn’s Beastly? Are you excited to see a modern day re-telling of Beauty and the Beast his theaters? What do you think of the Beastly trailer – yay or nay? Are any of your favorites featured on Hollywood Crush’s Holiday YA reading list? What YA books do you recommend for holiday reading? Who do you want to see play Katniss Everdeen and why?

I love Beauty and the Beast, so I think a modern retelling might be cool. 🙂

Anna Popplewell! ANNA POPPLEWELL!!!! I would be so happy if she could have the part of Katniss!!!

Thanks for keeping us informed. 🙂

Oohh… good choice! Heaven knows she’s undergone all of the stunt training already courtesy of the Narnia series. But will she “want” to make another stunt heavy movie with possible sequels in the future???

*on a personal note if Kristen Stewart gets the part, I will be taking poison!

I really liked the book beastly but I am a little nervous about the movie. I don’t know if I am going to like it.

My mom and I have both read Beastly, and I’ve read A Kiss In Time “solid gold”! But I can’t envision a film that would faithfully recapture the novel at all 😦

I’d really love to see Emily Browning as Katniss.
