★ Alex Pettyfer offered the role of Jace Wayland in Cassandra Clare’s ‘City of Bones’! After months of speculation regarding who would (and should!) play Shadowhunter Jace Wayland in the film adaptation of City of Bones – the first title in Cassandra Clare’s bestselling Mortal Instruments series; fans have finally succeeded in getting their thoughts across to casting directors for Alex Pettyfer has officially been offered the coveted role. Though word on whether or not Pettyfer will be accepting the role has yet to be announced; rumor has it that he has met with the film’s director – Scott Stewart – numerous times, and that a deal with the studio is in the works. ★ Tigers to knock werewolves out of the top spot? Werewolves may currently be the four-legged creatures on the tip of everyone’s tongues thanks to their appearance in series such as Twilight and The Vampire Diaries; but the tables may be turning, opening the door for a new strong and prolific animal to enter the picture…tigers! Thanks to Colleen Houck’s self-published-turned-sleeper-hit Tiger’s Curse – the first in a projected YA fantasy trilogy; critics have begun to dub tigers the new werewolves, bringing a new form of saga and character to the forefront. Hollywood Crush.
★ ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ mastermind takes on ‘I Am Number Four’ As one of the original producers of the hit TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Marti Noxon certainly knows her way around the hallowed halls of high school and snarky commentary – and now she’s bringing that masterful knowledge to the big screen adaptation of Pittacus Lore’s I Am Number Four, which is expected to hit theaters on February 18, 2011. As the screenwriter of I Am Number Four, it was Noxon’s responsibility to accurately transform book to film – and now she’s sharing her secrets (as well as a few spoilers!) with fans!
