I Dreamed a New Ending

Posted by inkpopbecki on April 15, 2011

First, we would like to congratulate the following three winners of The Carrier of the Mark ARC winners. Marissa, Theodora and Ashley Nicole have all been randomly selected to win a free Advance Reader Copy of The Carrier of the Mark for reposting or tweeting the video link of Leigh receiving her box of ARCs. Awesomesauce! Thank you all for entering.

So conclusions of series that we love are always difficult for an author.

***SPOILER ALERT: for Harry Potter, Twilight and The Hunger Games***

I mean come on Ron, Hermione and Harry who really marries their high school sweethearts? Standing in the middle of field starring a group of vampires down until they go away does not an epic war make, Bella! And kids?! We know the world has changed, but there’s still a lot of chaos Katniss!

We’re just kidding! While we respect our authors valid attempts at wrapping up their series, no one is ever 100% pleased. So now is your chance. Take your favorite series that has ended in recent years and write an alternative ending. Make a funny parody or tell us what you would have actually like to have seen happen. Post your story here in the comment section of the blog.

Three winners will be selected and announced here next Friday on the inkpop blog. Have fun and may the odds be forever in your favor!

I would have liked for the Harry Potter series to end with Voldemort’s death and the wrapping up of events right afterwards. I could have done without the epilogue because I like stories that end by looking to the future, especially when the story is one of growth and a long and difficult struggle.

We could already tell that Hermione and Ron were going to be together, and maybe just after the battle we can sense where everyone else is heading. But yeah, no epilogue for me.
