Blogger Book Review: Fallen Angel by Heather Terrell

Posted by cat eyes & skinny jeans on April 23, 2011

Happy Saturday, inkpoppers! On this sunny Saturday we bring you a review of inkpop Live Chat alumni Heather Terrell’s Fallen Angel straight from Nancy of Girls in the Stacks.

Nancy, who reviews books on Girls in the Stacks alongside her friends and fellow readers Stacy and Shannan says, “As a child, reading was my outlet, my escape, my passion…and as an adult it is also now my ‘me’ time. I read…a lot. Me, me, me!” Read more reviews from Nancy at Girls in the Stacks; for now, prepare to fall for Fallen Angel.

“I enjoyed this unusual story that mixes the traditional angels-fallen-to-earth theme with a little bit of vampire lore – they’re not vampires per se, but definitely enjoy the bloodlust. Which is kind of creepy if you think about it too long.

“Ellie is not exactly your typical teen. Her parents drag her away every summer for ‘environment saving missions to impoverished countries’, and she also has these very realistic dreams about flying (which turn out to be real). I liked how the relationship between her and Michael developed, with Michael trying to show her what they really are and what they can do (fly, share blood), and Ellie stubbornly denying the truth at first.

“When bad guy Ezekiel sweeps in, the action starts to happen. Ezekiel was a pretty scary villain, and as Ellie learns more about what she actually is, she learns that he wants her for his own purposes.

“The biggest misstep for me was Ellie’s parents. I just want to yell when characters so obviously won’t share important information and believe that keeping their daughter ignorant is best – they even erased her memory. They’re supposed to be loving? Really? Overheard conversations are the only way Ellie pieces together the mystery of what she is, and what her parents are.

“This book is a very fast read, and has a cliffhanger ending because there will be a sequel (Eternity, coming summer 2011). I will definitely pick up the sequel!”

Thank you to Nancy of Girls in the Stacks for stopping by to discuss Fallen Angel with us.

Over to you…have you read Fallen Angel? If so, what did you think of it? If not, will you be picking this book up during your next trip to the bookstore and/or library?
